Rajesh Sendh (born - 1971) is a promising classical vocalist performs the Dhrupad style of Indian music. He received his initial training in vocal music under the Gurus; Sri Gopal Panda, Sri Bhikari Bal & Sri Ramhari Das and completed the bachelor degree with ‘Odissi Vocal Music’ from the Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Dr. Rajesh Sendh is qualified in Hindustani Vocal Music from the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He received rigorous training in Dhrupad singing in the traditional system of ‘Dagur-Vani’ under the tutelage of the Dhrupad maestros Pt. Ritwik Sanyal in Varanasi and Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar in Dhrupad Kendra under the Department of Culture at Bhopal. 

He is awardees of the ‘Junior Fellowship’ for Hindustani Vocal Music by the Department of Culture, Ministry of human resources development of India Government. Prasar Bharti approved him as an artiste for Dhrupad-Dhamar singing. He has been performing in various prestigious music concert platforms in India & Abroad as well as accompanying his Guru on various occasions for last 15 years. 

Dhrupad Mela Committee of Varanasi has honoured him as the best young dhrupad singer for the year 2008. Dr. Sendh has been imparting the art of dhrupad singing to the students of global level for last 15 years. The artiste publishes the Treatise ‘Odissi; the third classical form of Indian music’.

He has been working as a classical singer at Diesel Locomotive Works Varanasi, a production unit of Indian Railways.    An internationally acclaimed vocalist of India, Dr. Rajesh Sendh is a very popular and promising young artiste, who is known for his contribution in popularizing Indian Classical Music (Dhrupad Vocal) all over the world. His consummate artistry has distinguished him as the great living master of the Dhrupad acclaimed both at home and abroad.

Unlike many other great Indian artistes, Dr. Sendh does not come from a family of musicians. Rather, music is a path he found for himself and struggled very hard to overcome all the hurdles that came his way to emerge out successful with his sincerity, devotion and dedication.

Born on January 1, 1971 in Balasore, Odisha, he began his musical pursuit at the age of 17, learning Odissi classical vocal technique from Guru Gopal Chandra panda, Guru Bhikhari Charan Bal and Guru Ramhari Das at Bhubaneswar. After completing the Bachelor degree with Odissi Music from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar however, he had switched to Hindustani Vocal and joined Banaras Hindu University for Bachelor, Master and Doctorate degree, after hearing Pandit Ritwik Sanyal, an eminent Dhrupad Vocalist from Varanasi, He taught Dhrupad-Dhamar under him for five years. In 1998, he joined Dhrupad Kendra as a disciple under the able guidance of Dhrupad maestro Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar at Bhopal under the national scholarship of Allauddin Khan Sangeet Academy, Department of Culture, Madhya Pradesh.  From here began his musical journey that took him all over the globe.

Since that time Dr. Rajesh Sendh has been performing nationally and internationally winning acclaim from varied audiences Rajesh Sendh tours regularly in the All India Radio and Television at Bhopal and Varanasi in major music festivals.

He has also shared stage with eminent artistes from all over the world. He has performed memorable jugalbandis with the popular artiste like Pandit Ravindra Narayan Goswami (Sur Bahar), Yvan Taunslar (Dhrupad from France), Lakhan Lal Sahoo (Dhrupad), Vishal Jain (Dhrupad) and many others.

In addition to his performances, Rajesh Sendh also plays the role of a dedicated Guru & teacher. He has several dedicated and talented students not only in India but also around the world who are making their mark on the Indian Classical music front.

For his outstanding performance, Dr Sendh has been recognized and conferred upon with honours.
